Description
Usage
Yerba mate is traditionally consumed as a herbal tea beverage. Loose, dried leaves and twigs are steeped in hot (not boiling) water inside a hollowed gourd (mate) and sipped through a filtered metal straw called a bombilla. It can also be served cold with iced fruit juice—a preparation known as tereré—or processed into commercial extracts, supplements, and energy drinks.
