Description
Manahshila, chemically identified as Arsenic Trioxide, is a powerful mineral preparation utilized within the specialized branch of Ayurveda known as Rasa Shastra. Unlike plant-based herbs, this substance is a chemical compound that is inherently toxic in its raw form. Therefore, it must undergo an intensive detoxification and purification process called Shodhana to make it safe for human consumption. Once processed into a Bhasma (calcined ash), it is used to treat stubborn dermatological conditions such as chronic psoriasis and eczema due to its strong antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Beyond skin care, it is traditionally employed to alleviate symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and other joint disorders by reducing inflammation and balancing the body’s Doshas. It is also noted for its ability to act as a rejuvenator and treat certain types of tumors. Because of its extreme potency, Manahshila is never used in isolation and must be administered strictly under the guidance of a certified Ayurvedic physician to avoid toxicity and ensure the correct dosage for the patient’s specific constitution.
