Akeek Pathar, identified mineralogically as chalcedony — a microcrystalline form of silica — has been employed in traditional Unani and Ayurvedic mineral pharmacy for several centuries. Sourced predominantly from riverbeds in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and the Deccan Plateau, as well as from Yemen and Iran, this translucent stone is calcined or prepared through classical Shodhana processes before medicinal use. Historically referenced in Unani texts including the Qarabadeen tradition, it has been traditionally included in formulations addressing cardiovascular tone and general systemic vitality. Its use reflects the long history of minerals in classical Indian and Perso-Arabic traditional practice.
