Description

Mooli Khar is the classical Ayurvedic Kshara (alkaline ash extract) prepared from the stem and leaves of Raphanus sativus — the radish — through a multi-step process of drying, incineration, water extraction, and filtration as described in the Sushruta Samhita’s Kshara-karma chapter. This preparation yields a pale yellowish-grey, strongly alkaline powder or solution with a pH typically exceeding 8.5. In classical Ayurveda, Mulaka Kshara is cited as a primary medicinal agent for renal calculi (Ashmari), urinary obstructions (Mutrakrichra), and abdominal Gulma conditions. The Kshara system of Ayurvedic preparation is one of the most sophisticated pharmaceutical processes in indigenous South Asian medicine, converting plant materials into a bioavailable alkaline form. This product is distinct from Mooli Beej (radish seed) entered separately.
