Neem Gond (Neem Gum) | नीम गोंद | Azadirachta indica

Out Of Stock

Neem Gond is the water-soluble gum exudate from Azadirachta indica — the neem tree — collected from natural or induced breaks in the bark. A less commercially prominent part of the neem plant compared to the leaf and seed oil, the gum is documented in Ayurvedic formulations and folk pharmaceutical applications as an emulsifying and demulcent agent.

Description

Neem Gond is the natural gum exudate of Azadirachta indica — the neem tree — that seeps from wounds, insect attack points, or natural fissures in the bark and dries into amber-coloured, irregular, water-soluble lumps or sheets. A polysaccharide-based gum, it has been studied for its composition of arabinose, galactose, glucuronic acid, and mannose residues. In Ayurvedic folk pharmacy, the gum has been incorporated into external applications for wound care, skin conditions, and as a binding agent in traditional pill preparation. While neem is most commercially recognised for its leaf (Nimba Patra) and seed oil, the gum is referenced in regional ethnobotanical surveys of Rajasthan and Gujarat for folk preparations. The tree is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent and Myanmar and is widely cultivated across tropical zones globally.
