Description
Grape seed extract is derived from the dried seeds of Vitis vinifera — the cultivated grapevine of Mediterranean and Caucasian origin — through a process of milling and standardised extraction that concentrates oligomeric proanthocyanidins to defined percentages. Distinguished from whole grape seed by its enhanced bioavailability profile, the extract was developed in France in the 1970s building on the research of Professor Jacques Masquelier. In traditional Unani medicine, preparations derived from grapes — including seed-derived substances — appear in formulations for blood vessel strength and complexion health. The extract is now a leading ingredient in international nutraceutical formulations for cardiovascular, ophthalmological, and dermatological applications, and is imported into India’s Ayurvedic export sector.
